Veterans Day Ceremony

Join the Town of Clayton in Operation Green Light to honor local veterans!

From Nov. 6-11, our community will come together to show support for our veterans. Let's shine a bright green light in our homes and businesses to let our heroes know they are seen, appreciated, and supported.

How to Participate:

• Pick up your FREE green light bulb at Town Hall starting October 18th. (One per family or business while supplies last)
• Install the green light bulb in a visible place in your home or business.
• Keep it shining bright all week (Nov. 6-11) to honor our veterans.

Save the Date: Operation Green Light will officially launch on Nov. 6 at the Veterans Recognition Ceremony held at The Clayton Center at 5:00 p.m.

The recognition ceremony will feature guest speaker Gerry Barry who dedicated 25 years of his life to the U.S. Marine Corps. During his tenure in Vietnam, he played a pivotal role in multiple operations. In April 1975, during Operation Frequent Wind, Colonel Barry etched his name into history. He piloted the iconic CH-46 helicopter, fondly known as "The Lady Ace," on a non-stop 18-hour mission during the evacuation of Saigon. Colonel Barry's mission reached its pinnacle when he successfully airlifted U.S. Ambassador Graham Martin out of Saigon, marking the poignant end of the Vietnam War.️

Additionally, representatives from the American Legion, Clayton High JROTC, and Clayton Town Council will be present. There will also be a performance from a local bagpiper.
