Water Resources
The Town of Clayton Water Resources Department maintains more than 146 miles of water lines and 173 miles of sewer lines to provide service to around 28,000 residents. The Water Resources Department is responsible for the maintenance of existing lines, installation of new lines, and are the people you see out making repairs when necessary.
Emergency After-Hours
In the event of an after-hours emergency: water leak, sewer back up, etc. contact call 919-553-1530, then listen to the prompt for further instructions. Our after-hours personnel will respond quickly and professionally to your emergency.

Backflow - Cross Connection
The Town of Clayton's Cross Connection Control/Backflow Protection Program is responsible for ensuring the drinking water provided by the Town remains safe throughout our distribution system.

Fats, Oils & Grease
The Town of Clayton's Fats, Oils and Grease Program is responsible for ensuring and preventing the discharge of fats, oils and grease into our sewer system causing unsightly and environmentally hazardous sanitary sewer overflows.

Irrigation
The Town of Clayton purchases water from Johnston County and our residents who have irrigation systems must follow Johnston County’s lawn watering schedule in order to help make our community a more sustainable place to live. These watering requirements are consistent with irrigation schedules in most of our neighboring communities. Water efficiency must be considered from the initial irrigation system design phase through installation to ensure optimal performance.

Sewer Maintenance
